Busy, Busy, Busy!
I haven’t written a post in a long time but it’s been on my mind all these weeks and months. Writing these notes offers me some relief. Things have been busier and not the good kind of busy.
My father-in-law hasn’t been well; my wife has been away. She returned about 3 weeks back, only having to rush back a week later. Things are stable for now, but situations like these are uncertain. Easy for me to talk about, but the best one can do is plough through these times. My wife knows this better than I do.
I made three visits to see my father-in-law in a month or so. In the middle of planning one such visit, I lost an aunt so I had to rush to Mangalore. A month later, we returned to attend a wedding in the same household, and I took my parents along this time. So there, not everything was terrible. It was nice seeing family and we had a jolly good time.
I returned home from the festivities, got myself admitted to the hospital a day later to get myself probed and explored through my anus, after I noticed blood in my poo during some of these trips. The colonoscopy said it was nothing, just poor eating habits and possibly fissures. The doctor shrugged me off, told me I’m fine and I must not push if it doesn’t feel right.
It was something I wanted to get over with, to get some peace of mind in the midst of all the chaos surrounding us. I would write about this in great detail; it’s quite funny the way things played out.
Another thing on my mind was moving my parents. I had to move them to a new apartment. Their 40-year-old apartment is going to be demolished and a tower erected in its place. The process is called redevelopment and it’s corrupted right down to the representatives in the apartment. I’ve been arguing and dealing with passive-aggresive threats by the secretary and chairman. Legal paperwork is sketchy, communication non-existent most of the time. Not much is expected from society.
Fortunately for us, my cousin offered her massive apartment for my parents to live in for the next 3 years. I owe a great deal to her. We’re paying her the rent, but it saved a lot of pain finding apartments, getting approvals, paying some corrupt broker a month’s rent, paying attention to crazed rules by some power-hungry apartment complexes.
I also had dental work done in the middle of all this. I had a long-ignored root canal done, but there is one thing pending - getting my wisdom tooth extracted before having a cap placed on the molar. That pending visit is still bugging me. One of these days!
How are things for you? Write to me!
