Short trip to Kochi
Things have been a bit busy yet again, and I’m just about recovering from a mild case of flu. It hasn’t been as bad as the truly bad ones I’ve had growing up.
We flew to Kochi over the long weekend. It was a good excuse to fly via the new airport I wrote about a few months back. It was so much more comfortable than the older airport. I returned from work, and freshened up. We were at the airport in 25 minutes.
We didn’t make this a very touristy trip. We lived in Ernakulam for 2 days, visited the Fort Kochi area, Mattancherry and Jew Town. The highlights were the ferry rides, and the great food. Kerala is probably the most liberal state in the country, so you eat as you wish and you can see how people co-exist so peacefully without the uproar. The second visit to the state in less than a year has been very pleasant. I have posted some photos on my Pixelfed account.
The second half of the stay was quieter, in a place called Aluva. The highlight here was our apartment facing a large stream/creek, with the occasional local or two headed downstream in their boats. There were kingfishers, and a bunch of other birds flying about. We saw flocks of them flying back at sunset, and it was just nice. We walked around the place, and made a visit to the LuLu mall and did some shopping.
I like these kinds of holidays because they can be done without expectations of sight-seeing. We now just visit a city or town, wander about, eat some, shop some, see what we feel like, if we feel like it, and that’s great!
